Dr. Patricia Smith has 24 years working with the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) in both field and state operations. Her most recent position was Assistant Deputy Director of State Operations with the Division of Child Support Service.  She is also retired from the Air Force Reserves after serving 28 1/2 years in Traffic Management.  Patricia is currently employed as the Transit Program Delivery Manager with the Georgia Department of Transportation where she provides statewide oversight to rural and urban subrecipients.  

Over a broad career in state and federal government, she has meshed creativity and passion with skills in human services, business operations, logistics, transportation, and leadership to enhance educational experiences and student learning.  With an in-depth understanding of strategic planning in state government and in the military, Patricia has established process improvement procedures to improve the day to day operations to ensure that projects are completed early and under budget.  She has been instrumental in workforce development among staff to prepare them for changing priorities and to strengthen skills to prepare for promotional opportunities.  Patricia has also designed competency-based training across various subjects.
